TechEd SpeedsterTechEd LLC is excited to let you know what we have been working on. We have been is the shop tweaking and modifying this project for quite some time now and it is finally time to let the cat out of the bag. The TechEd Speedsteer has been redesigned over and over to get the cost down to around $2.00, making it an affordable project for middle and high school students. Over the next few weeks we will be uploading all the how to videos, documents, blueprints, and all the tips and tricks that you will need to know. This project has been classroom tested and works great. Did we mention it is only two dollars per student. Click here TechEd Speedster for more information.

One awesome tech project for $2 |
We have created learning games that help students understand some of the major concepts that are taught in tech and engineering classes. These games will come with a short reading section as well as worksheets fro the students to work on as they read though the information and play the game. These games have been designed with State standards in mind.

This section is great for test prep for those of you that have a tech exam or enhance a lesson you may teach. These app / games will be in the student section of this site. If you have any other ideas for games please let us know.

Feature Lessons / Activities
The Three Piece Puzzle project is much more than just another woodworking project. It is a great way to tie in ELA, Math, and Science into your curriculum. This is also known as the Common Core. The puzzle pieces are first drawn on SketchUp (free version) to the actual dimensions. Students use screen-cast to assist with their drawings. It is advised that the students first do the SketchUp Activity on this website first. Once the drawings are complete they layout the puzzle on one long piece of wood, using rulers and squares. Next they head to the shop to cut, drill, mortise, file and sand there puzzles to shape. Finally they use MS Word and SketchUp to create illustrated and written instructions on how this puzzle can be solved.

Sketchup Screencast
If you have access to a computer lab this is a great activity for your Technology or Engineering class. Sketchup is a free program that is lightweight and can run on almost any computer. The students will learn how to read and draw 3D drawings with dimensions by using this modeling program. You will be amazed at how simple it really is to learn. I have had success with 7th graders for years and the students really enjoy this activity. There are several screen cast that teach the basics of SketchUp to the students, they are able to access these videos in the student section from school or home. After learning the basics SketchUp the move on to creating drawings accurately and with dimensions. They will also learn how to animate their drawings for easy grading by the teacher. These videos are non-YouTube videos so it shouldn't be blocked by your school's filter.

ONLINE RULER READING ASSIGNMENT
The Ruler Reading Portion of this page will always be free. I have personally taught over 1500 students how to read a ruler successfully These online tutorials work well for a couple of reasons.

About TechED LLCI created TechEd LLC in the Spring of 2013 with the goal of bringing technology and engineering teachers together and have a website that they could communicate and collaborate through. I have been teaching Technology Education for over a decade after receiving a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Alfred State and a Technology Education degree from SUNY Oswego. After years of developing all my own material for my courses it became apparent that a site like this didn't exist, as I had searched for lesson plans and other teaching material several times and usually came up empty handed. So over the years I had worked hard perfecting and fine tuning the projects that I teach. Of course updating as well because our budget had shrunk considerably and our district had us focus on the common core. In the fall of 2012 I had participated in a Technology Assessment Development Conference for six days. I had brought some examples of what I do to share with the other technology teachers. There was an outstanding interest in my work and it generated a lot of discussions amongst us. It felt good to talk with other teachers who teach the same grade level as I, because I am the only tech teacher at my grade level in my district. So in effort to continue those discussions, and give others the opportunity to share and discuss I created TechEd LLC. I was already familiar with web design and how to set up a business as I had already done this with a different business that I created. So as you can see one thing lead to another and the site has grown and continues to grow on a daily basis. I hope you will become a member and share your success stories and / or benefit from others. If you have any questions or comments please use the Contact Us Form. We are only getting started and there is more on its way. Please share this site with other engineering / technology teachers as it would only benefit all of us.
